5 Month Update!!
Grayden has grown and changed so much this month! He has become quite the little character and is starting to develping his own little personality. Daddy has spent this entire month with us which has been so nice for Grayden and I. We've kept ourselves pretty busy spending 2 weeks in Vancouver visiting Papa and Nana, we went to fairmont for a weekend and daddy's been developing our basement.
Some big milestones this month:
Grayden rolled over for the first time June 27 and just last week he sat up all on his own for the very fist time (July 17). He's definitely not there yet where I could ever leave him sitting on his own and walk away but he can sit there for a good 2 minutes or so without falling over. Grayden is now in CRUISERS !! thats right... size three diapers! ......What a big boy :)
Grayden LOVES to laugh! It is the most beautiful sound in the world and just makes my day! He thinks Kiara is hilarious! LoL every time she runs by him he just giggles and giggles! its the sweetest thing. Graydens favorite game is PEEK-A-BOO! He giggles so much...especially when you laugh with him. He usually waits until he hears you laugh first before he starts to laugh and he seems to copy the way we laugh. if we just let out a small little giggle so does he, but if we start really chuckling he starts really chuckling.....LoL its pretty funny. Grayden has a favorite toy and his name is LEAP! I think Papa and Nana gave it to him for his shower but he absolutely LOVES Leap. Hes a little frog that sings the alphabet. He has alot of toys but he will always grab leap first and whenever he needs a nap he likes to fight it a bit and whenever we give him LEAP he usually falls right to sleep to the alphabet. I bet his first words will be A-B-C.
Breast feeding has changed a lot this month, as he has become so active. He likes to eat a little, have a look around, eat some more, tell me a story, then eat a little more. He wants to know everything thats going on around him and It has gotten to the point where I can't even have a conversation without him stoping to look at me or the next thing I know he's got milk all over his face.
He seems to be reaching really well for anything that he is interested in. He always sits in his bumbo at the supper table and while we are eating he trys to reach for anything and everything!! He sticks both his arms out and grasps his intended object with both hands, and immediately brings it to his mouth or trys to knock it over. We've had a few cups and bowls that have ended up on the floor. He loves water bottles as well and always reaches for them, I think he just enjoys the sound it makes. I think Grayden is teething :( He has been putting everything in his mouth for weeks now but only in the last 3 has he been really biting on things hard. His cheeks get pretty rosey every now and then and he has been a little fussier than usual. It could still be months before he cuts a tooth but for the mean time he is really enjoying those frozen teethers in his mouth. He also loves this toy we got him that vibrates his gums whenever he bites down on it.
Grayden has been sleeping so well this month. Almost as soon a we got to Vancouver he started to pretty much sleep through the night. We dont have to change his bum in the middle of the night anymore which makes a BIG difference. We used to change his bum at least twice through the night so Im pretty happy about that. He still wakes up a couple times for a short 30 second feeding but falls right back to sleep. He naps about 3 times during the day for about 45mins-1 hr. Grayden loves his sleep. We go to bed around 11 and he doesn't wake up until about noon. I AM TRUELY BLESSED :)
Well thats about all thats new with Grayden this month. I think we are going to start solids here in the next few days. His doctor told me at his 4 month check up that they are starting to recommend solids at 4 months but EVERYTHING that I've read states other wise, that they DO NOT recommend starting any solids before 6 months. That is one thing that I have come to realize since becoming pregnant. To not trust my health to any doctor and that know one knows what's best for your child more than you. I know Grayden wasn't ready for solids at 4 MONTHS OLD.... but the last few days he has started to show all the signs that he is ready to start so we'll see. I plan to make all of his baby food which I am really excited about. I went out yesterday and bought some ORGANIC brown rice for his rice cereal so we'll see how it goes.
Happy 5 month birthday Grayden! There is nothing in this world that I enjoy more than watching you grow like this and learn all these new things . Mommy and daddy love you to pieces!!

Grayden's first trip to Fairmont
Its a big tradition in Cody's family to go to fairmont every year. Graydens Grandma has been going there since she was a baby and has carried on that tradition by taking Cody since he was a baby. Well this year she was able to bring her first Grandson for his first fairmont experience. I think thats pretty cool !! It was also Graydens first time swimming! he absolutely LOVES the water!! It was pretty exciting for Cody to take Grayden this year but I dont think anyone was more excited than Grandma Beecher :)

The Jolly Jumper..
Grayden got a new toy yesterday...THE JOLLY JUMPER!! He has a hoot in there! We put him in his cousins the other day to see if he would like it. I wasn't expecting him to do anything but stand there because I didnt think he would no what to do but as soon as he was all straped in he started bouncing away. LoL it was so funny and he just loves it. He could be in there for hours if we let him. Here's some pics and a video of Grayden in his jolly jumper!

Back at home...
As much as I wish we were still back in Vancouver. its always nice to be home. We had such an awesome time and it was so nice to spend two weeks with my mom, dad and Kaden. Grayden finally met Uncle Kaden for the first time at 4 months old. Kaden had to go back the day before he was born so he was pretty excited to meet his first nephew. Before we came they went out and bought Grayden his swing and a bumbo to make him feel more at home. I can't believe how good he was. He usually doesn't like being away from home. I guess he doesn't mind going anywhere as long as he has his swing :) My parents couldn't believe how good of a baby he is. I never really realized how good he was until they pointed it out so much. He only cried 3-4 times the whole time we were down there and only because of the horn, bad dream, and getting scared. He hardly ever cries at home either so we are pretty blessed. I can't believe how much Grayden changed while we were down there. He had so many FIRSTS as well. To name a few.... he rolled over for the first time, started sucking his toes, started spitting, first boo boo (hit himself in the face with a toy which left a mark) and found new noises to make. He just grew so much!
Im glad we were able to stay for 2 weeks and share all those firsts with his Nana and Papa. Thank you so much for everything mom and dad. We miss you :)

Fairy Ride..
We went on Grayden's first fairy ride today to Victoria. It was pretty early on the way there so we stayed inside but we decided to go out for a bit to look at the ocean and all the Islands. About 2 mins later they announced they were going to sound the horn and I had no idea it was going to be that loud!! It was the loudest horn I've ever heard and it seemed like forever! Poor Grayden just FREAKED!!! Daddy tryed to cover his ears as much as he could but it just happened so fast. I looked at Grayden's face pressed against his daddys chest and he had the saddest look on his face and had his lip right out :( He has never cried like that before and he cried for about 15 minutes after. Other than the horn incident we had a great time. We went to this little pub in the middle of the woods that we LOVE. It reminds me of the little cottage in hansel and gredle. It's surronded by trees and beautiful flowers in the middle of no where, It was closed down because of some septic issues but we went and ordered some food else where and just brought it back their to eat by ourselves.

He can roll....
Grayden Finally rolled over for the FIRST TIME yesterday June 27th!! He has been swaying from side to side for some time now and the last few days he's been able to roll over from his stomach onto his back but just couldn't get over that arm to go from his back to his stomach. Yesterday he was layng there buck naked to cool down from this schorching Vancouver heat and he just all of a sudden rolled over !! Only Papa and I witnessed it. Daddy was at the gym and missed it by only a few seconds :( Oh well

At The Beach...
We took Grayden to the ocean for the first time yesterday!! He just LOVED it!! Its no tropical beach but it was still so nice. He sat there in his bumbo and just STARED at the waves coming in. He could have sat there forever. We put his feet in the water for a few mintues and he just stomped away. He loves any kind of water. We let him stand there on the sand with his bare feet and he just loved digging his little toes into the sand. It was so cute and it was such a beautful day!

First Airplane Ride...
You no when your on an airplane and you hear a baby crying behind you somewhere and your just so glad your not the one sitting beside them.....well that was my child :) Haha He was so happy boarding the plane and making friends with all the flight attendants, and he seemed fine taking off but the last half hour of the flight he was not a happy boy. He was pretty tired and just couldn't settle I guess. He was freaking out so we took him to the back where all the food is to try and settle him and so the people in front of us weren't so annoyed. We sat at the very back so we had no one behind us thank goodness. I knew he was crying because he wes tired but I could tell by his cry that he was in pain as well. The pressure must have bothered his ears and after a few minutes of me rocking him he finally fell asleep for the remainder of the flight. Poor guy :( Well lets just say Im not looking forward to the flight home :(

Heres a short video of Grayden giggling with daddy....I have been trying to capture it on tape for a couple days now but every time I get the vide camera out he stops what he's doing and stares at the camera. I was only able to get this by standing behind him which is why he's upside down !!

4 Months old !!
My Baby is 4 months old today!! Crazy.....their have been so many changes this month so lets see if I can remember them all. I need to start jotting them down so I wont forget when It comes to writing these monthly updates. Well cody's last day of work was on friday so we now have daddy all to ourselves for the next 6 weeks. YAHHOOO!! Ahhh it's going to be so nice to have him here to help out and when I need the extra sleep. Grayden's still not sleeping through the night AT ALL. I think the last time he slept for more than 5 hours was about 2 1/2 months ago :( He goes to bed around 11pm and wakes up at 2am, around 4am and then again at around 7am and then we're usually up for the day around 11. He ALWAYS wakes up from a huge rumble in his diaper. Probably the messiest diaper of the day..LoL anyways Im so greatful that we can at least sleep in a little!! We've started to develop a little routine and its makes our life so much easier as well as Graydens. Here's an example of what our days are like
11am we get up for the day. Grayden nurses and has a BIG bum change. He sits in his bumbo while mommy eats some breakfast. We play on the couch for a while or Grayden plays in his exersaucer.
12:30 Graydens ready for another nap. Still loves his swing for when he naps and occasionally goes down in his crib. I'm not sure how long we can use the swing for?? He's starting to get too big and before we no it we'll be packing the swing away....OH NO what will I do !!: (
1:30 Grayden wakes up and so does daddy for the day.
1:30-3:30 I nurse Grayden and then we just hang out and play...if its nice we try to get out and go for a walk
3:30 Graydens about ready for another nap
4:30 Nurse Grayden again.... Start getting supper ready and play some more.
5:30 supper time. Grayden always sits at the supper table with us in his bumbo. Grayden's usually tired again and goes down for another nap.
6:30-7:30 Grayden wakes up and nurses and we go on a walk if its nice out. the mosquitos haven't made our walks very pleasant especially after all this rain !!!! I am constantly watching Grayden to make sure no mosquitos fly in there and bite him.
8:00-8:30 bath time and then we say goodbye to daddy for the night ....Grayden goes down for another nap
9:30-11 Gray wakes up and plays with mommy, we read a story, nurse and then go to sleep.
So thats our routine. It's not set in stone of course and is always changing as Grayden changes, but its something I try to stick by.
He still naps alot which is nice because I am able to get things done around the house and have some time to myself. Sometimes he doesn't fall asleep right away and gets pretty cranky and I have found ways that soothes him to sleep. He loves it when I put his froggie under his arm and usually that does the trick but what always works is the VACUME!! YUP Grayden loves the vacume. He loves it and ALWAYS falls right to sleep. MY FLOORS HAVE NEVER BEEN SO CLEAN!! and its really helpful when its cleaning day.LoL
So What else is new with Grayden this month?? Oh yah...the giggles are FINALLY out!!! He's been giggling in his sleep since he was 2 months old but RARELY when he's awake. The first time I heard him giggle when he was awake was when my mom came down last month on May 16th. Grandma was pulling his soother in and outta his mouth and he let out the cutest little giggle. I have been trying ever since but he just gives me the BIGGEST SMILES instead. I'm just not that funny I guess....Well on Fathers day daddy went to work early and I gave him his bath by myself and he was laying on our bed playing with me and I dug my face in his chin and he thought it was just HILARIOUS (ive done that plenty of times but this time was funnier than most I guess) It was so sweeet and just the cutest thing I've ever heard. Hearing him laugh is the best and just melts my heart. He does it all the time now but he SURE MAKES YA WORK FOR IT. LoL.
This month around 13 weeks old Grayden has really started to develop his hand-eye coordination. He is actually playing with his toys now. I love watching him lay on his back and actually grab at them or sit in his exersaucer and pull all the toys towards his mouth. Its amazing how babies literally have to learn to do EVERYTHING.
Grayden is grabbing at EVERYTHING these days. I have learned not to wear earrings ANYMORE (he has yanked them out a few times now) and he loves grabbing mommies hair. YOU WON'T BE SEEING ME WITH MY HAIR DOWN FOR A WHILE let me tell ya.... !!!. Also...Everything he grabs MUST go in his mouth..and the drool!!..Oh the drool !! OH YAH Grayden found his feet last week :) I'll post a picture of that soon.
Well we have a doctors appointment tomorrow for Graydens 4 month check-up. Im anxious to find out his weight. He was 13 Lbs 9 oz on his last check-up which was 1 1/2 months ago. He was in the 75th percentile for his age!! I put him on the weight scare here and it said 14.3 Lbs so we'll see how accurate it is. I'll make sure to update this tomorrow when we find out....(UPDATE) WELL GRAYDEN IS ONE HEALTHY BOY!! HE WEIGHED IN AT A WHOPPING 16 LBS 5 oz which puts him in the 90th percentile for his weight and he was 26 1/2 inches long which is in the 95th percentile for his height, Im not sure where he is getting his height from because no one is our family is tall ! Well my baby has officially doubled his weight since birth!! She also said I should start him on rice cereal because they are now recommending starting on solids at 4 months instead of 6. Im totally not ready to start him on solids yet! Grayden is still satisfied after his feedings and he has the weight to show for it. I wasn't planning on starting until 6 months or sooner if Grayden seemed ready for it. I'm still going to wait a few more weeks and then we'll start the solids.
I am going to be pretty busy the next couple of days trying to get things ready for our trip to Vancouver. We leave tuesday morning at 8:30 AM!! YIKES...I haven't been up that early for months! Im not looking forward to it. It's hard packing for a baby...theres so much they need and I'm trying not to forget anything. Im so excited to be their with mom and dad for two weeks, but I dont think anyone is more excited then they are..LoL

Happy FIRST Fathers Day !!
Well Cody got to experience his First Fathers day as a daddy. I love the fact that we have one day out of the year to celebrate Mothers and Fathers..... I never appreciated that special day until I became a parent myself. But it really is a special day to celebrate and dedicate the day just to Fathers and Mothers and all they do.
I have been working on Cody's fathers day gift for a while now and I was so excited to finally give it to him today. I found a sweet poem on the internet and made a really cute collage of pictures and Graydens footprint and put it together in a nice little frame. I turned out so cute and Cody REALLY loved it. So that was Graydens gift, I gave him a pair of leather abercrombie sandals. I sorta made everything all about "feet" for fathers day to go along with the poem..LoL I even had foot print wrapping paper. Anyway it was a special day and I loved seeing the pride on cody's face as he played with Grayden today. I really couldn't ask for a better father for my little boy! He's one lucky dude. Happy Fathers Day Cody ...I love you!

Helping daddy unwrap his gift...
First time in his exersaucer...
Graydens getting pretty strong these last couple of weeks so we decided to get out the exersaucer and give it a try...well he loved it and had so much fun. At first he just stared at all the toys and colors for about 5 minutes and then I showed him how to play with them and after a few times of watching me he would try and copy me. It was so cute......
